INGREDIENTS

  • Smoked cod, thinly sliced
  • Ripe tomatoes
  • fresh mozzarella (preferably buffalo mozzarella)
  • Fresh basil
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Balsamic vinegar
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground pepper

PREPARATION

To prepare this caprese salad with smoked cod, start by washing the tomatoes and cutting them into thin slices. Then cut the mozzarella into slices of the same thickness. Also prepare the slices of smoked cod and, if you prefer, cut them into strips for a more uniform presentation.

On a large plate or platter, alternate tomato, mozzarella and smoked cod slices, and place a fresh basil leaf between each tomato and mozzarella slice for a fresh and aromatic touch.

Finally, dress the salad with a good drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, add salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste and, if you enjoy the sweet-acid contrast, add a few drops of balsamic vinegar over the tomatoes and mozzarella.

ADVICE
You can accompany this salad with crusty bread. If you prefer, add some black or green olives for an extra touch of Mediterranean flavour.
